What motivates interns and how do they learn during their Cancer Research UK - CRUK internship? In the context of recession this longitudinal research 2009-2010 answers these questions providing also an evidence-based skills development tool. CRUK is a privately funded charity with an award winning internship scheme: 2015 follow up - update in the introduction. There was no previous research published on this subject therefore I designed a multi method qualitative data collection project. I did thematic data analysis and comparison of findings to experiential and self-directed learning from the perspectives of psychology and human resources creating a model of interns learning.
