O estudo, 'Online Adverting and Patronage of Goods and Services in Benue State of Nigeria' (Publicidade em linha e patrocínio de bens e serviços no Estado de Benue, na Nigéria), procurou avaliar, em termos gerais, a publicidade em linha e o patrocínio de bens e serviços entre a população do Estado de Benue, na Nigéria. O estudo recorreu a uma abordagem qualitativa e utilizou o questionário como instrumento de recolha de dados. O estudo revelou que a maioria dos inquiridos acredita que a publicidade em linha influencia significativamente o conhecimento da marca dos consumidores no Estado de Benue, embora alguns discordem ou permaneçam indecisos. O Facebook surgiu como a plataforma mais popular para a compra de bens e serviços, sendo as preocupações com a fraude, a desconfiança e os produtos de qualidade inferior efeitos negativos notáveis da publicidade em linha. De um modo geral, o estudo revelou um elevado nível de patrocínio e influência da publicidade em linha no Estado de Benue. A Comissão Nacional de Radiodifusão (NBC) e o Conselho Regulador da Publicidade da Nigéria (ARCON) devem regulamentar as plataformas de publicidade em linha que permitem aos comerciantes visar dados demográficos e interesses específicos, criando também entre as pessoas uma consciência dos bens e serviços em linha.
