Der für unsere Untersuchungen verwendete Boden ist ein extrem saurer Ferralsol, auf den wir organisches Material auf der Grundlage von Tithonia diversifolia aufbrachten, was als Lösungsansatz zur Wiederherstellung der Fruchtbarkeit dieser Art von Böden vorgeschlagen wurde. Das allgemeine Ziel bestand darin, die Auswirkungen auf den Anbau von Sojabohnen zu bewerten, die in einem zweifaktoriellen Versuchsaufbau auf zwei Böden (0-20 cm und 20-40 cm) in Vegetationstöpfen gesät wurden. Es wurden drei Dosierungen getestet, die 0 kg (D0), 3 kg (D1) und 6 kg MO.m-2 (D2) entsprachen. Die Behandlung mit 3 kg MO.m-2 war in allen Fällen die beste, insbesondere im Hinblick auf den Ertrag, der 3,72 Mg.ha-1 im Oberboden und 3,48 Mg.ha-1 im Unterboden entsprach. Die Behandlung mit 0 kg MO.m-2, die nur einige Knöllchen (8) trug, erbrachte nur einen Ertrag von 0,486 Mg.ha-1. Ein Beweis für die Inaktivität von Rhizobien in dieser Bodenart. Bei einer Dosis von 6 kg MO.m-2 war ein Ertragsrückgang zu verzeichnen (durchschnittlich 1,642 Mg.ha-1), der wahrscheinlich auf den Stickstoffüberschuss zurückzuführen war. Dennoch waren die Ergebnisse für die beiden untersuchten Bodenniveaus (0-20cm und 20-40cm) vergleichbar.
