O total de sólidos dissolvidos e a condutividade elétrica foram verificados através da máquina Tintometer Multi-direct. A temperatura do ar e da água foi determinada por um termómetro comum de mercúrio com variação de 0 a 110 °C e o oxigénio dissolvido foi medido através de um medidor de oxigénio dissolvido. Durante os meses do estudo, os valores médios registados para os parâmetros de qualidade da água foram: pH da água 6,95, alcalinidade total 135 ppm, dureza total 95 ppm, cloro total 0, temperatura do ar 26,5 °C, temperatura da água 17 °C, sólidos totais dissolvidos 0,49 ppm, condutividade elétrica de 104 μS/cm e oxigénio dissolvido de 5,91 ppm. A partir deste estudo, obtivemos os resultados de que a água do rio Swat em Batkhela, distrito de Malakand, tem boa qualidade e os parâmetros aquáticos estão dentro dos intervalos normais, mostrando que a água não tem efeitos adversos no crescimento, sobrevivência e reprodução da flora e fauna aquáticas do rio Swat.
