A aquicultura, o desenvolvimento urbano, a agricultura e o desenvolvimento industrial têm sido as principais causas dessas perdas de manguezais. Os manguezais são uma importante fonte de bens e serviços dos ecossistemas (EGS), entre os quais se encontram o sequestro de carbono, fornecendo áreas de reprodução e viveiros para várias espécies de flora e fauna, materiais, medicamentos e proteção contra o impacto das mudanças climáticas.Este estudo investigou a análise custo-benefício de um programa de restauração de manguezais, particularmente na lagoa De Gi da província de Binh Dinh, no Vietname.
