Xiomara Melo introduces AmoRe Therapy, a clinical intervention designed for the specific needs of Hispanics couples and families, utilizing Biblical concepts of marriage, this modality speaks straight to the basic emotional needs of love and respect of men and women, within a spiritual context that allows for greater safety and security of attachment to God as well as to each other. Additionally this model bridges the gap in research and clinical practice in working with families with a domestic violence history. Through the use of humor, story telling, and psychodrama techniques such as doubling, role reversal, touching, soliloquy, replay, and role playing, mirror, the author has worked with approximately 200 Hispanic couples in the last seven years. The most successful type of clients have been Hispanic couples with a history of domestic violence and trauma. 3
