ALSTAT PC ist eine Realisierung des Konzeptes, wie es in 'ALSTAT 1 - Algorithmen der Statistik fUr Kleinrechner' beschrieben wird. Es ist fur den Einsatz auf IBM PC und kompatiblen Rechner ent­ wickelt worden. ALSTAT PC bietet nicht fertige Statistik-Programme an, sondern pr~sentiert sich in Form eines Tischrechners, welcher nur diejenigen Resultate liefert, welche ausdrUcklich verlangt werden. In diesem Sinne knupft ALSTAT PC an die Programme fur den HP-4l-C Taschenrechner an, welche im Band 'ALSTAT 2' vorgestell t wurden. Die Realisierung auf einem Personal Computer bietet aller­ dings wesentlich mehr Komfort hinsichtlich Schnelligkeit, Ueber­ sichtlichkeit, Datenmanipulation und Weiterverarbeitung der Resul­ tate. Wie erste Erfahrungen gezeigt haben, eignet sich das Pro­ gramm auch gut zur Beglei tung des Statistik-Unterrichts. Vom Be­ nutzer wird lediglich vorausgesetzt, dass er das Betriebssystem MS-DOS einigermassen kennt und einen Texteditor bedienen kann. Das vorliegende Handbuch ist der Beglei ttext zur ALSTAT-PC Pro­ grammdiskette. Diese kann mit der diesem Band beigefugten Bestell­ karte direkt beim Verlag oder tiber den Buchhandel bezcgen werden. Neben der grunds~tzlichen Beschreibung des Programmes enth~l t das Handbuch zahlreiche leicht nachvollziehbare Auswertungen von Zah­ lenmaterial, welches ebenfalls auf der Programmdiskette mi tgelie­ fert wird. Dami t kann der Benutzer samtliche Moglichkei ten von ALSTAT PC kennenlernen, bevor er das Programm fur seine eigenen Arbeiten einsetzt. Am Schluss des Handbuches finden Sie ein Formular, mit welchem Sie allf~llige programmfehler oder auch Verbesserungsvorschlage den Autoren mitteilen konnen.
