Across The Border: Or Pathan And Biloch is a novel written by Edward Emmerson Oliver and published in 1890. The book is set in the late 19th century and follows the adventures of two British officers, Captain Gerald Desborough and Lieutenant Reginald Erskine, who are sent to the North-West Frontier Province of India to maintain law and order. Desborough and Erskine find themselves in the midst of a power struggle between two tribes, the Pathans and the Bilochs, who are constantly at war with each other. The officers must navigate through the complex political landscape of the region while dealing with the dangers of tribal warfare and the treacherous terrain. As the story unfolds, Desborough and Erskine become embroiled in a love triangle with a beautiful local woman named Zulifikar. The romance adds a layer of complexity to the already tense situation and puts the officers’ loyalty to the test.Throughout the novel, Oliver provides a vivid portrayal of the North-West Frontier Province and its people, highlighting the cultural and social differences between the British and the tribesmen. He also explores themes of imperialism, loyalty, and honor.Overall, Across The Border: Or Pathan And Biloch is a thrilling adventure story that offers a glimpse into the complexities of colonial India and the challenges faced by the British officers tasked with maintaining order in a volatile region. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
