Il ricino (Ricinus communis L.) è una pianta della famiglia delle Euforbiacee, altamente adattabile a diverse condizioni climatiche, resistente al deficit idrico e in grado di crescere in diversi terreni. In quest’ottica, lo scopo di questa ricerca è stato quello di valutare l’effetto di diversi livelli di salinità nell’acqua di irrigazione, combinati con dosi di fertilizzanti azotati, sulla crescita e sulle componenti produttive della pianta di papaya BRS Energia, coltivata in lisimetri in condizioni di campo. I trattamenti consistevano nella combinazione di cinque livelli di conducibilità elettrica dell’acqua di irrigazione (0,4; 1,4; 2,4; 3,4 e 4,4 dS m-1) e cinque dosi di azoto (50; 75; 100; 125 e 150% della dose raccomandata per il pot test). È stato utilizzato un disegno a blocchi randomizzato in uno schema fattoriale 5 x 5, con tre repliche, per un totale di settantacinque unità sperimentali. La salinità dell’acqua di irrigazione riduce la crescita dell’albero di papaya BRS Energia, come dimostra la diminuzione dell’altezza della pianta, del diametro del fusto, del numero di foglie e dell’area fogliare.
