A forma como vivemos e fazemos as coisas foi grandemente modificada pelas TIC. Nos lares, nas escolas e nas indústrias, os computadores estão a substituir progressivamente a presença humana. A Zâmbia, tal como muitos outros países, adoptou a utilização e a integração das TIC na educação. Em 2007, foi formulada uma política nacional de TIC com ênfase nas TIC na educação. Em 2013, o Ministério da Educação Geral (MoGE) da Zâmbia reviu o Currículo Escolar Nacional, introduzindo as TIC como disciplina no primeiro ciclo do ensino secundário. O desenvolvimento foi recebido com sentimentos mistos em todo o país. Este facto levou a uma interrogação sobre as percepções dos professores e dos alunos em relação às TIC como disciplina curricular sujeita a exame nas escolas secundárias do distrito de Mazabuka, província do sul da Zâmbia.
