Este estudo analisa a forma como a inteligência artificial é representada em termos de género no cinema e na televisão, com especial destaque para as personagens de IA com características femininas. Defende que estas representações reproduzem frequentemente estereótipos de género tradicionais, ao retratarem a IA como submissa, orientada para o serviço e emocionalmente solidária. Com base na teoria feminista dos meios de comunicação, a tese analisa obras selecionadas, tais como Ex Machina, Her, Blade Runner 2049 e Westworld, para explorar a forma como estas representações refletem e reforçam normas sociais mais amplas. Através de uma análise qualitativa de conteúdo, a investigação estabelece uma ligação entre as representações ficcionais e as tecnologias do mundo real, como os assistentes virtuais, destacando o seu papel na formação das perceções sobre género e poder na era digital. Em última análise, o estudo contribui para os estudos críticos sobre os meios de comunicação e o género, defendendo representações mais equitativas e matizadas da IA.
