Настоящее исследование проводилось главным образом с целью изучения знаний и применения биоудобрений фермерами, выращивающими сахарный тростник. Для исследования был выбран округ Латур, расположенный в регионе Маратхвада. Три талука (Латур, Ауса и Ниланга) были выбраны из района целенаправленно, и по четыре деревни из каждого талука были выбраны целенаправленно на основе площади и производства сахарного тростника. Таким образом, общий объем выборки составил 120 респондентов. Для проведения исследования использовался исследовательский дизайн 'постфактум'. Что касается профиля производителей сахарного тростника, то было отмечено, что 48,34% имеют средний опыт ведения хозяйства, 35,00% - среднее образование, 38,34% - маргинальную категорию землевладения, 60,83% - средний годовой доход, 46,67% - низкий уровень социального участия, 55. 83% имели средние контакты с консультантами, 47,50% - средние источники информации, 57,50% - средний уровень инновационности, 58,34% - среднюю экономическую мотивацию, 65,00% - среднюю ориентацию на риск, 40,00% - высокий уровень знаний и 39,17% - средний уровень внедрения.
