В книге рассматривается завод по переработке отходов в городе Бетим-МГ, управляемый компанией ECOS, как пример устойчивого развития, превращающий большие объемы строительного мусора в полезное сырье для города. На примере исследования, проведенного на заводе по переработке твердых строительных отходов в муниципалитете Бетим, расположенном в столичном регионе Белу-Оризонти, штат Минас-Жерайс. Исследование было организовано в виде статей, в которых рассматриваются различные аспекты, связанные с ТБО. Главы включают в себя систематический обзор альтернатив по снижению воздействия ТБО на окружающую среду, анализ управления строительными отходами в Бетиме, оценку текущего сценария работы завода по переработке с финансовой, экологической и социальной точек зрения, теоретический потенциал для получения вторсырья при селективном сборе ТБО и, наконец, техническое руководство по управлению государственными заводами по переработке ТБО.
