Celem niniejszego badania była analiza wyzwań stojących przed MŚP w Hermosillo, Sonora, w zakresie rozwoju zrównoważonego kapitału ludzkiego, z zamiarem zidentyfikowania obszarów wymagających poprawy i zaproponowania strategicznych wytycznych w celu wzmocnienia ich zrównoważonego rozwoju organizacyjnego. Zastosowano ilościowy, nieeksperymentalny, przekrojowy, opisowo-korelacyjny projekt, stosując standaryzowany kwestionariusz do celowej próby 108 MŚP, koncentrując się na menedżerach i menedżerach zasobów ludzkich. Wyniki ujawniły słabości w zakresie zasobów ludzkich, etyki, integracji, a zwłaszcza przywództwa i zrównoważonej kultury organizacyjnej, z przeważnie negatywnymi lub neutralnymi odpowiedziami. Chociaż dobre samopoczucie i klimat pracy zostały ocenione pozytywnie, nie zostały one zintegrowane z ogólną strategią. Stwierdzono, że istnieje potrzeba wzmocnienia procesów szkoleniowych, etycznego przywództwa i strategicznych działań na rzecz zrównoważonego rozwoju, co byłoby korzystne dla konkurencyjności oraz rozwoju gospodarczego i społecznego Hermosillo.
