In dieser Forschungsarbeit wurde die chemische Umgebung von Titan (Ti) in mit TiO2 dotierten Kalzium-Aluminosilikat-Gläsern mit niedrigem Siliziumdioxidgehalt (LSCAS) untersucht. Mit Hilfe der Röntgenabsorptions-Nahkantenstruktur-Spektroskopie (XANES) wurden die Oxidationsstufen und die Koordinationssymmetrie von Titan bestimmt. Die Ergebnisse zeigten, dass die lokale Struktur von Ti in LSCAS-Gläsern der Rutilphase von Standard-TiO2 ähnelt. Eine Erhöhung der TiO2-Konzentration hatte keinen signifikanten Einfluss auf die Positionen der Absorptionspeaks vor der Kante, obwohl die Höhe der Peaks in den Gläsern höher war als in den Standards, was auf eine Verzerrung der oktaedrischen Geometrie hindeutet. Die Energie der Absorptionskante deutet auf die Koexistenz von Ti(+3) und Ti(+4) in den Glasproben hin. Darüber hinaus wurde festgestellt, dass das verwendete Vakuumschmelzverfahren die Bildung von Ti3+ begünstigt.
