Studium oddziaływania na sąsiedztwo (EIV) jest instrumentem Statutu Miasta, który ocenia wpływ przedsięwzięć i wydarzeń realizowanych w środowisku miejskim, powodujących oddziaływanie urbanistyczne i środowiskowe. Instrument ten jest regulowany przez miejskie plany zagospodarowania przestrzennego, które powinny określać kryteria oceny instrumentu, a także przedsięwzięcia, które powinny zostać przedstawione organowi regulacyjnemu. EIV jest wymagane zarówno w przypadku przedsięwzięć publicznych, jak i prywatnych, ale w niektórych metropoliach badanie nie jest wymagane w przypadku megawydarzeń i budowy dużych przedsięwzięć mieszkaniowych, które mogą mieć bezpośredni wpływ na okolicę, w której się znajdują.
