Rola strategicznego planowania systemów informatycznych (SISP) w opiece zdrowotnej wymaga formalnego procesu definiowania i aktualizacji strategii systemów informatycznych (ISS). Niniejsza publikacja przedstawia oparte na procesach i praktyce podejście do SISP w organizacji farmaceutycznej w Nigerii. Opisujemy pięcioetapowy sekwencyjny proces oparty na COBIT 5 (Control Objectives for IT and Related Technologies) oraz przedstawiamy różne narzędzia i podejścia COBIT 5. Proces ten został opracowany na podstawie ustaleń wynikających ze strukturalnego podejścia do przeglądu procesu SISP. Kwestie procesowe zidentyfikowane w sześciu wymiarach wymagały zastosowania ram dobrych praktyk. COBIT 5 został zastosowany w wielu obszarach opieki zdrowotnej i branżach pokrewnych, ale nie znalazł zastosowania w SISP. Zastosowanie COBIT 5 w SISP w lokalnej organizacji farmaceutycznej byłoby korzystne dla innych organizacji farmaceutycznych podejmujących podobne działania w przyszłości. Takie zastosowanie ma znaczenie zarówno dla naukowców, jak i praktyków.
