With Gordon In China: Letters From Thomas Lyster, Lieutenant Royal Engineers (1891) is a collection of letters written by Thomas Lyster during his time in China in the late 19th century. Lyster was a Lieutenant in the Royal Engineers and was sent to China to assist in the defense of the city of Tientsin during the Boxer Rebellion. The letters provide a firsthand account of the rebellion and Lyster’s experiences during his time in China. The book also includes a brief biography of Lyster and an introduction by his sister. It offers a unique insight into the events of the Boxer Rebellion and the experiences of a British soldier in China during this time.This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
