In December of 1929, the Great Depression is beginning to roll across America and so are men, riding trains and looking for jobs. When fourteen-year-old Lisenka helps her friend Albert serve soup to men in a hobo jungle, she doesn’t suspect that homelessness could soon threaten her own family. In this third book of the series, German-Russian immigrant, Lisenka Schallert, learns the value of trusting God and being generous. This book is based on historical situations, but is a work of fiction. The Author’s StoryI grew up in a tiny Ohio town, attended a Lutheran grade school, and have a small-town attitude. After college, marriage, and four children, I began to write—the first two books of this series were originally published in the 1990s and republished in 2017. In 1995 my husband Tom and I started a group travel business, Tom’s Christian Tours. My small-town attitude entered the jet-set age as we led groups to more than 75 countries. Now in retirement, writing is again calling to me. - Linda Jane Niedfeldt (Janie)www.lindajaneniedfeldtThe Photographer’s StoryGrowing up, I loved to laugh, make others smile, and see things through my own lens. Now, years later, I have a full life with my soulmate, four kids, one dog, and eight chickens. Much of my success with Carla Jane Photography, capturing emotions and fun, is seen through my old and new lenses of life. - Carla Jane Jahnkewww.carlajanephotographyfdl.com
