Dieses Buch ist der erste Versuch, die wandernden Ameisenarten des indischen Subkontinents unter Einbeziehung des Himalaya von Jammu und Kaschmir, der bereits als gefährdet eingestuft ist, zu katalogisieren. Es ist der erste Versuch seit Bingham (1903), die Vielfalt der Ameisenarten aus dieser Region des nordwestlichen Himalaya zu erfassen. Im Rahmen der Studie wurden 144 Arten in Höhenlagen von 500 bis 4.000 Metern über dem mittleren Meeresspiegel dokumentiert. Eine Checkliste aller in Jammu und Kaschmir nachgewiesenen Ameisenarten wird zusammen mit hochauflösenden Bildern der wandernden Arten zur Identifizierung bereitgestellt. Zudem wird die Gattungsverteilung anhand von Karten dargestellt.
