Wissenschaftlicher Aufsatz aus dem Jahr 2007 im Fachbereich BWL - Wirtschafts- und Sozialgeschichte, Universität Salzburg (Institut für Geschichte), 1 Quellen im Literaturverzeichnis, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Viktor Kaplan, geb. am 27. November 1876 als Sohn eines Eisenbahnbeamten in Mürzzuschlag in der Steiermark, gestorben am 23. August 1934 im 58. Lebensjahr in Unterach am Attersee in Oberösterreich, hatte die Propellerturbine mit verstellbaren Laufschaufeln erfunden. Diese Turbine ist für die Nutzung der Wasserkraft von Flüssen (kleine Gefälle, große Wassermengen) besonders gut geeignet. Kaplan entwickelte diese Turbine an der Deutschen Technischen Hochschule in Brünn. Insgesamt hatte Kaplan rund 270 Patentanmeldungen in 25 Staaten der Erde, die auf 38 Erfindungen beruhen. Im vorliegenden Aufsatz wurden einleitend der mehrgliedrige Erfindungsvorgang und die Entwicklung des Patentschutzes in Österreich behandelt.Weitere Kapitel wurden der Geschichte der drehbaren Laufschaufeln und den langjährigen Patentstreitigkeiten gewidmet. Diese Auseinandersetzungen gingen alle zu Gunsten Kaplans aus, doch seine Gesundheit war dabei die Verliererin. Den Abschluss bildet eine übersichtliche Zusammenstellung sämtlicher Patente Kaplans.
