Entre as rãs, a rã-touro indiana Hoplobatrachus tigerinus é um item importante. Outrora, a espécie H. tigerinus estava presente nos diversos corpos de água do Bangladesh. No entanto, a disponibilidade de H. tigerinus está a diminuir devido a diferentes efeitos antropológicos e alterações ambientais. As razões para o seu declínio na natureza são a captura indiscriminada, a degradação do habitat, a poluição aquática e várias outras causas. Atualmente, esta espécie é considerada em perigo de extinção do ponto de vista da biodiversidade (IUCN, 2000).
