La propoli è una miscela complessa di sostanze resinose, gommose e balsamiche raccolte dalle api mellifere da gemme, fiori ed essudati vegetali, a cui le api aggiungono secrezioni salivari per ottenere il prodotto finale. In Brasile esistono diversi tipi di propoli con composizioni consolidate. La diversità dei composti presenti contribuisce alle diverse attività biologiche già dimostrate in vari studi, ma la maggior parte dei lavori ha cercato di utilizzare la propoli nella sua forma grezza. Lo scopo di questo studio è stato quello di frazionare un campione di propoli verde utilizzando solventi di diversa polarità e di valutare il potenziale antiossidante e fitotossico di ciascuna frazione.
