El presente trabajo fue producto de la colaboración interdisciplinaria y la participación en trabajo de campo en invernadero, trabajo en laboratorio, en aula y de revisar extensamente la literatura sobre un cultivo específico: el jitomate. Con ello nos planteamos un objetivo concreto: conocer y valorar a profundidad el efecto de los cultivos hidropónicos en 5 variedades de jitomate, conociendo las características organolépticas que es posible obtener en los cultivos, merced a el empleo de las técnicas de hidroponía en invernaderos. Los resultados se valoran más allá de la subjetividad al emplear la herramienta estadística, contrastar datos y efectuar análisis y discusión de los resultados. Todo lo anterior nos permite concluir las ventajas de las técnicas de la hidroponía, más el trabajo interdisciplinario para mejorar producción de este y otros cultivos susceptibles de tratarse con estas técnicas en aras de optimizar los recursos en un mundo que cada vez necesita mayor sustentabilidadd y cuidar el entorno.
