Qurʾānic Schools in Somalia: Challenges and SolutionsThe Qurʾānic school is considered a fundamental landmark of the traditional culture of the Somali people, and an influential educational incubator in the formation of the Somali personality. It is where the Somali child begins his life outside his home before knowing modern education, and before connecting with the outside world around him. Through it, he becomes associated with Islam and its principles before reaching the age of five. This means that attention to the Quranic school is an important variable in shaping our rising generations. This study comes to contribute to this field by reviewing the most prominent problems of Quranic schools in Somalia, studying their manifestations and factors, and proposing solutions for them in light of educational data. The study also forms a historical and cultural window on the Somali Quranic school, its literature, patterns, and most important achievements; with the aim of circulating and benefiting from it locally and internationally.Dr. ʿUmar Moḥamed Warsame.Lecturer and academic interested in developing the teaching of Arabic language and Islamic sciences, holder of a Ph.D in Philosophy in Arabic Language and Literature, specialising in: Applied Linguistics (teaching Arabic to non-native speakers) from Jami’at al-Qur’an al-Karim wa al-’Ulum al-Islamiyya in Sudan, and a Master’s degree in Linguistics from Jami’at Ta’izz in the Republic of Yemen. He has lectured at a number of universities and institutes in Somalia, Kenya and Qatar, and is also a student of Quranic sciences and Quranic readings. He has worked in teaching and supervising Quranic circles and centres in Yemen, Somalia and Kenya, and currently works as a researcher and consultant in the field of developing Quranic centres for a number of Quranic institutions and associations.تقديم: عبد الرشيد بن الشيخ علي صوفي والشيخ أحمد حاج قاسم.تعد الخلوة القرآنية معلمًا أساسيًا من معالم الثقافة التقليدية للشعب الصومالي، ومحضنا تربويا مؤثرًا في تكوين الشخصية الصومالية، فمنها يبدأ الطفل الصومالي حياته خارج بيته قبل أن يعرف التعليم الحديث، وقبل أن يتصل بالعالم الخارجي من حوله، ومن خلالها يرتبط بالإسلام ومبادئه قبل أن يتم الخامسة من عمره. وهذا يعني أن الاهتمام بالخلوة القرآنية، متغير مهم في صياغة أجيالنا الصاعدةوتأتي هذه الدراسة للإسهام في هذا المضمار من خلال استعراض أبرز مشكلات خلاوي القرآن الكريم في الصومال، ودراسة مظاهرها ، وعواملها ، واقتراح حلول لها في ضوء المعطيات التربوية. وتشكل الدراسة كذلك نافذة تاريخية وثقافية على الخلوة القرآنية الصومالية، وادبياتها، وأنماطها ، وأهم إنجازاتها ؛ وذلك بهدف تداولها والإفادة منها محليا ودوليا.
