Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2017 im Fachbereich Germanistik - Neuere Deutsche Literatur, Note: 1,0, Universität zu Köln, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Uwe Johnsons Roman 'Jahrestage. Aus dem Leben von Gesine Cresspahl' umfasst knapp zweitausend Seiten und ist zwischen 1970 und 1983 in 4 Bänden erschienen. Erzählt wird die Lebensgeschichte der Protagonistin Gesine Cresspahl, die 1933 in Mecklenburg geboren wurde. In meiner Arbeit werde ich mich mit der erzählten Vergangenheit Gesines beschäftigen und der Frage, inwiefern sie Mecklenburg als 'Heimat' sieht. Anzumerken ist, dass die Interpretationen der 'Jahrestage' im Hinblick auf das Konzept 'Heimat' weit auseinandergehen.Im ersten Kapitel werde ich zunächst auf die Begriffe „Heimat', „Hoffnung' und „Utopie' eingehen und erläutern, warum Johnsons Jahrestage im Hinblick auf Ernst Blochs 'Das Prinzip Hoffnung' gedeutet werden können. Die hoffnungsvolle Suche nach der utopischen Heimat zeichnet die Protagonistin Gesine Cresspahl aus. Daneben werde ich einen Ausblick geben, welchen Einfluss die Erfahrungen der Vergangenheit auf Gesines Suche nach Heimat auf der Gegenwartebene haben. Anhand der gewonnenen Erkenntnisse werde ich dann das Romanende interpretieren und abschließend ein Fazit ziehen.
