MANOLOVA (2007) ist der Ansicht, dass Unternehmertum ein Thema ist, das aufgrund seiner wirtschaftlichen und sozialen Bedeutung weltweit Beachtung findet und untersucht werden sollte. In der ehemaligen kommunistischen Welt machten laut der Autorin kleine und mittlere Unternehmen zwischen 50 % und 60 % des Bruttoinlandsprodukts von Ländern wie Ungarn, Litauen, der Tschechischen Republik, Polen und Lettland aus, weshalb das Phänomen des Unternehmertums „als wichtiger Motor für die Schaffung von Arbeitsplätzen und den sozialen Wandel' (S. 407) angesehen werden sollte.
