MANOLOVA (2007) sostiene che l’imprenditorialità è un tema che merita attenzione e deve essere studiato in tutto il mondo, data la sua importanza economica e sociale. Nel vecchio mondo comunista, secondo l’autrice, le piccole e medie imprese rappresentano tra il 50% e il 60% del prodotto interno lordo di paesi come Ungheria, Lituania, Repubblica Ceca, Polonia e Lettonia, pertanto il fenomeno dell’imprenditorialità deve essere visto 'come un motore importante per la creazione di posti di lavoro e il cambiamento sociale' (p.407).
