Niniejsze badanie koncentruje się przede wszystkim na trudnościach w relacjach międzyludzkich - wynikających z doświadczeń przemocy i zaniedbania, z jakimi mierzyły się te dziewczęta - oraz na kwestii wyznaczania granic w odpowiedzi na zachowania obserwowane wewnątrz placówki. Analiza tych zagadnień pozwala na zastosowanie teorii psychoanalitycznej do opisu problemu społecznego w Meksyku, a jednocześnie poszerza naszą wiedzę na temat warunków niezbędnych do optymalnego rozwoju fizycznego i psychicznego dzieci.
