Il comune di Holambra, situato nello Stato di San Paolo, è il principale produttore di fiori e piante ornamentali del Brasile. La sua intensa specializzazione produttiva è testimoniata dall’apparato tecnico installato, dove enormi serre e innumerevoli sistemi di irrigazione disegnano il paesaggio. La floricoltura si distingue dalle altre colture agricole brasiliane per il fatto che viene prodotta in piccole proprietà con un uso intensivo della manodopera, ma richiede anche un gran numero di input e risorse, come l’acqua. Per questo motivo, Holambra ha numerosi prelievi idrici nel suo territorio, che hanno causato una riduzione della disponibilità di acqua nei suoi bacini fluviali. In questo contesto, l’obiettivo di questo lavoro è analizzare l’importanza dell’utilizzo delle risorse idriche nella produzione di fiori e piante ornamentali a Holambra, cercando di individuare le vulnerabilità territoriali generate dall’uso aziendale di questa risorsa, indispensabile alla vita di ogni individuo.
