L’urbanisme paysager vernaculaire est un concept nouveau mais très en vogue, qui découle de l’étude de tous ses composants individuels (design vernaculaire, design paysager et urbanisme) afin de le justifier en tant qu’outil de régénération urbaine, en particulier dans les pays en développement. Cette étude est menée sur la base d’observations personnelles des effets négatifs du développement rapide et de la surpopulation en Inde. Les principes dérivés de ce concept sont donc testés dans des bidonvilles afin de déterminer leur pertinence pour la régénération urbaine. Cette étude reconnaît l’importance et les perspectives d’avenir de l’ urbanisme paysager vernaculaire . Elle conclut en outre qu’il s’agit d’une approche valable et logique en matière de régénération urbaine.
