Argentina al igual que gran parte de la región ha cumplido ya treinta años ininterrumpidos de vida democrática. Quienes hemos tomado a la universidad como objeto de investigación nos reunimos en San Luis para realizar un balance de estos años, evaluando lo realizado e indagando acerca de las asignaturas pendientes.Las incertidumbres, demandas, presiones, han sido una marca en la universidad argentina que ha ido moldeando su identidad en una realidad siempre compleja que es necesario desentrañar para producir conocimientos y comprometernos en trasformar lo necesario. Esta labor se da en el marco de los casi cien años de la emergencia de la reforma universitaria iniciada en Córdoba y asumida como modelo en América Latina, que nos interpela aún hoy a los universitarios.Destacados investigadores argentinos e importantes referentes de la región fueron convocados para reflexionar sobre estos hechos, quienes observan agudamente los problemas, posibilidades y desafíos.Una Educación Superior que sea inclusiva y de calidad constituye una de las principales finalidades, que el sistema debe lograr en democracia. Para lo cual todos los miembros de la comunidad universitaria tenemos un compromiso que debemos y podemos desarrollar. Con este texto intentamos contribuir a la toma de conciencia sobre esta responsabilidad. 10
