Une approche situationnelle de la gestion de projet : La recherche entreprise remet en question la notion populaire de meilleures pratiques en matière de gestion de projet. Elle se fonde au contraire sur l’expérience quotidienne selon laquelle une pratique - une approche, un comportement, une méthode, une technique ou un outil - qui a été couronnée de succès dans une situation donnée peut échouer dans une autre, apparemment similaire. Le travail présenté ici donne une introduction aux concepts de la gestion de projet situationnelle et la met en œuvre en développant une typologie ouverte pour les projets afin d’aider à identifier les approches et les comportements prometteurs et d’éviter ceux qui sont préjudiciables. Ces approches sont ensuite présentées sous la forme d’un continuum entre les approches agiles et prédictives, et reliées à l’ensemble des neuf styles d’accomplissement de Lipman-Blumen. Certains résultats contredisent les attentes normales, par exemple le fait qu’un projet de type plutôt dérivé peut comporter plus de risques qu’un projet qui constitue une percée complète.
