Uncle Nick’s Funny Farm is a collection of short stories about animals on a farm, featuring wonderful pictures for children to colour and a short quiz after each story. 'The New Farm Cat' tells about the new kitten the farmer brings home. The old farm cat takes the kitten around to show her all the different animals. 'The Little Red Hen' looks around the farm and sees all the animals with their babies, but she doesn’t have any babies. She tries to hatch different objects and is sad when it doesn’t work. The little white hen feels sorry for her and gives the little red hen some of her eggs. When the little red hen hatches three baby chicks, she becomes very happy. 'The Strange Little Creature' in Lily Pad Pond just hatched from an egg, but doesn’t know what he is. He asks different animals what they are and if he is the same, but he isn’t. He reaches a lily pad and talks to a frog, who tells him that he is also a frog. 'A Use for Trojan' tells the story of Trojan, the horse that ploughs the farmer’s fields. One day, the farmer buys a new red tractor and Trojan is not needed any more. He is very sad until the day a duck runs up to Trojan and tells him a sheep is stuck in the mud. The tractor tried to pull the sheep out, but also got stuck. It’s Trojan to the rescue! Born in Brighton, England, Nick Montague is currently a fundraiser for a children’s charity in Carmarthen, Wales.
