A veces, la frontera entre la ideología y el fanatismo es tenue e insidiosa. Hay contextos históricos en los que algunos personajes dan pasos sin vuelta atrás mientras que otros consiguen escapar de la locura, aunque sea pagando un alto precio. En esos terrenos pantanosos, la ideología proporciona a veces coartadas para actitudes mezquinas y criminales: el integrismo revolucionario justifica el asesinato y una venganza por celos se camufla con una espuria ética política. En una trama de acción y de sospecha permanente, Una callada sombra cuenta la historia paralela de dos personajes crucificados por su momento histórico y cuyas vidas acaban convergiendo en un dramático final, único posible a una trama que mantiene atrapado al lector desde la primera página. 10
