A prevalência de certificados falsificados representa um desafio significativo para a integridade das instituições de ensino e empregadores. Este estudo apresenta o desenvolvimento de um sistema de verificação de certificados online com o objetivo de melhorar a eficiência, a flexibilidade e a segurança dos processos de autenticação de certificados. O sistema proposto adopta uma metodologia de conceção descendente e utiliza a MongoDB, uma base de dados NoSQL, para ultrapassar as limitações de escalabilidade e durabilidade associadas às bases de dados relacionais. As principais caraterísticas incluem uma interface de fácil utilização para a verificação de certificados, capacidades de armazenamento robustas para registos de diplomados e a capacidade de validar certificados utilizando identificadores únicos emitidos aos diplomados. O sistema também facilita a verificação de certificados em tempo real, reduz a dependência de processos manuais e fornece armazenamento seguro para dados institucionais. Através da implementação e dos testes, o sistema demonstra uma eficiência operacional e melhorias de fiabilidade significativas, oferecendo uma solução económica e escalável para a verificação de certificados em instituições de ensino.
