Esta tese explora a utilização de fibras naturais, especificamente a fibra de folha de ananás (PALF), em combinação com material de núcleo de ácido poliláctico (PLA), para criar materiais compósitos com propriedades mecânicas melhoradas. O estudo utiliza tecnologia de impressão 3D, especificamente Fusion Deposition Modeling (FDM), para criar placas de núcleo com padrões variados (triangular, grelha e favo de mel). As placas centrais são depois revestidas com tapetes PALF e unidas com uma resina. O biochar de Luffa é adicionado como material de enchimento para melhorar as propriedades mecânicas. As amostras fabricadas são submetidas a várias avaliações experimentais, incluindo testes de flexão, impacto, tração, dureza, absorção de água e desgaste. A análise de microscopia eletrónica de varrimento (SEM) é também realizada para estudar a adesão fibra-matriz. O objetivo é criar estruturas leves com elevada precisão dimensional e custos de fabrico reduzidos.
