Um estudo farmacognóstico comparativo entre a Acacia arabica e a Prosopis julifera conclui que a Acacia arabica desempenha um papel mais significativo e tem mais valor científico. As plantas Acacia arabica e Prosopis julifera foram estudadas em termos de características farmacognósticas, morfologia, microscopia, físico-química, parâmetros que podem ser utilizados na identificação e autenticação de plantas. O rastreio sucessivo, extrativo e fitoquímico revelou a presença de alcalóides taninos, esteróides e terpenóides em vários extractos, mas a maioria dos fitoconstituintes com potencial medicinal estava presente em extractos alcoólicos e aquosos e em extractos metanólicos utilizados para a análise HPTLC.
