Das Phytoplankton ist ein Mikroorganismus, der ohne Sauerstoffmangel auf der Wasseroberfläche schwimmt und sich mit der Wasserströmung bewegt. Das Phytoplankton ist ein photosynthetisches, autotrophes Lebewesen, das zu den Primärproduzenten in den Ozeanen gehört. Das Phytoplankton umfasst alle pflanzenähnlichen Organismen in dem Sinne, dass sie autotroph sind und direkt zu der in den Oberflächengewässern verfügbaren Nahrung beitragen, indem sie ihr Protoplasma und ihre Nahrungsreserven direkt aus Kohlendioxid und Salzen in Lösung im Meer aufbauen. Zooplanktons sind planktonische, frei schwimmende Tiere in Süß- und Meerwassersystemen und sind die Hauptverbraucher der Organismen im mikrobiellen Nahrungsnetz. Dieses Buch hilft bei der Untersuchung der Planktonkultur und der Identifizierungsmethoden.
