A fim de preservar a qualidade ambiental de um aterro sanitário, os lixiviados do aterro devem ser recolhidos e tratados corretamente. Dada a complexidade destes lixiviados e as normas ambientais cada vez mais rigorosas, é difícil tratá-los utilizando apenas uma tecnologia de tratamento. É frequentemente necessária uma combinação de diferentes processos de tratamento para tratar eficazmente os lixiviados e cumprir as rigorosas normas de descarga a que estão sujeitos.O objetivo deste trabalho é transmitir aos decisores da gestão de resíduos uma abordagem para tratar adequadamente os lixiviados, combinando o tratamento biológico e o sistema de osmose inversa, e cumprir os requisitos das normas de descarga de efluentes no ambiente natural. Será também útil para as autoridades locais que planeiam construir novos aterros controlados, com base na experiência adquirida no aterro controlado de Moulay Abdellah.
