Carolin Führer zeigt, inwieweit Schulunterricht von Lehrenden zur individuellen didaktischen Konzeption und Verarbeitung gesellschaftlich forcierter Transformationsprozesse genutzt wird. Durch eine qualitative Untersuchung narrativer Techniken gegen Ende der DDR bis zum Kompetenz- und Medienwandel nach der Jahrtausendwende belegt die Autorin, dass selbstreflexive Auseinandersetzungen mit der eigenen Sozialisation und Mentalität seitens der Lehrenden zu einem bislang vernachlässigten Zentralmoment deutschdidaktischer Modellierungen gehören. Daraus ergeben sich neue Perspektiven auf die kulturelle und pädagogische Entwicklung der neuen Bundesländer sowie die Sozialisationsfunktion historischen Lehrens und Lernens.
