Modern contraceptives play a significant role in the range of medical interventions aimed at the practical implementation of family planning goals. Among the most effective and widespread are intrauterine devices (IUDs). The IUD’s core element is a bimetallic copper-silver wire, which possesses contraceptive properties due to the presence of copper. The wire is an axisymmetric layered product with a diameter of 0.35 mm, consisting of a silver core, which acts as a frame to which a copper sheath is attached. The presence of a silver core is necessary because the copper sheath dissolves unevenly during use. Without a central core, fragments can form, which can lead to injury to internal organs.
