Pour les alchimistes, le manuscrit allemand du ''Splendor Solis'' est un texte de référence connu dès le XVIème siècle. Il est aujourd’hui encore d’une pertinente actualité pour ceux qui cherchent à pénétrer les arcanes de l’Alchimie et les secrets de Dame Nature, sous l’égide du Divin.Publié en français en 1612 dans un langage amplement ampoulé, aujourd’hui difficilement accessible, ce texte fut retraduit par Bernard Husson en 1975 au départ d’une version imprimée en Suisse en 1598. Toutefois, ceci fut fait de manière littérale, quelquefois difficilement compréhensible. Insatisfait par ces efforts louables mais incomplets, Jean Delart et ses collaborateurs nous proposent ici une nouvelle traduction, plus littéraire, d’une lecture plus fluide, dans un style plus actuel, tout en cherchant à rester aussi proche que possible du texte originel tel que contenu dans le manuscrit daté de 1582 conservé à la British Library (Londres), sous la référence ''MS Harley 3469''.
