Ziel dieser Übersichtsarbeit ist es, einen umfassenden und aktuellen Überblick über die jüngsten Fortschritte bei der Nanokapselung von EO/bioaktiven Bestandteilen zu geben, um die Mykotoxinkontamination in Lebensmitteln zu kontrollieren. Darüber hinaus werden Informationen über Polymereigenschaften, Nanoverkapselungstechniken, Faktoren, die sich auf die Nanoverkapselung auswirken, Anwendungen von nanoverkapselten Formulierungen und deren Charakterisierung zusammen mit der Studie über die Freisetzungskinetik und die Auswirkungen auf die organoleptischen Eigenschaften von Lebensmitteln diskutiert. Schließlich werden auch die Sicherheitsaspekte von nanoverkapselten Formulierungen für ihre sichere Verwendung untersucht. Eine der globalen Herausforderungen für den Agrarsektor ist die nachhaltige Nahrungsmittelproduktion für die schnell wachsende menschliche Bevölkerung, die bis 2050 auf 9,7 Milliarden Menschen anwachsen wird (FAO, 2017).
