The study presented in the book asks what social work education ought to do in order to prepare future social work practitioners? In order to answer this question, the author conducted an action research study with social work service users, practitioners and students. These three stakeholder groups are highly relevant for social work identity, learning and practice, but, until this study, didn’t have a chance to explore the nature of social work education and practice together, as co-researchers. The study was conducted in England and Bosnia and Herzegovina, two contexts where the author both learnt and practiced social work. The book includes a critical overview of social work education and practice in both countries. This is followed by the presentation of study methodology and findings, which highlight the relevance of radical social work tradition and of the emerging collaborative social work learning and practice, both within the two countries where the studies were conducted and internationally. The book concludes with an overview of these findings in relation to relevant literature and practice in contemporary social work.
