Le caractère critique des informations et des données dans certains systèmes, comme ceux du secteur de la santé, nécessite un système offrant une tolérance optimale aux pannes sans pour autant compromettre l’intégrité, la disponibilité et la sécurité du système, afin que celui-ci puisse fonctionner avec une efficacité accrue. L’objectif principal de ce travail est d’examiner les applications des systèmes de santé sous l’angle de la tolérance aux pannes et de proposer un logiciel d’application hautement tolérant aux pannes, pouvant être déployé sous forme d’intranet au sein d’un établissement de santé tertiaire pour le partage des dossiers médicaux des patients entre les soignants. Outre une revue approfondie de la littérature sur le sujet, l’hôpital universitaire de Ladoke Akintola, l’un des hôpitaux universitaires du Nigeria, a été choisi comme étude de cas. Le flux existant d’informations sur les patients (CANO) a fait l’objet d’un examen critique ; ce flux d’informations, tel qu’il est actuellement utilisé, a été retravaillé à la lumière d’approches visant à mettre en place une technologie ART (Application-Level Fault Tolerance) afin d’améliorer le système d’information du secteur de la santé. Les différents services et utilisateurs ont été interrogés et consultés afin, entre autres, de recueillir les spécifications du système.
