This 'newly-discovered' biblical truth that contradicts the misleading doctrinal teaching(s) on tithing may be very upsetting and offensive to some, and difficult to accept by others due to the spiritual and mental struggle involved in accepting and changing our thinking and practice. But as Christians, we cannot deny or ignore the truth of that sacrificial act of grace by Jesus Christ on the Cross of Calvary that changed or annulled everything related to the O.T. sacrificial system including tithes and offerings. This is not to suggest that the New Dispensation church does not need funding for its operation. The funding it needs is based on a new paradigm introduced by Paul in 2Corinthians 8:12 etc. and not on an externally imposed/annulled O.T. law. The challenge for us, as faithful Christians, is to discover the truth and rid ourselves of the guilt-ridden feelings imposed upon us through the consistent reading of Malachi 3:8-10, and let the Spirit of God guide our decisions in reference to the financial support we contribute to His church. The authors, of Tithing: The Biblically Revealed Truth, have conducted a comprehensive study of this subject and presented clear and convincing theological argumentations that led them to a biblically objective conclusion of the tithing issue, the irrelevance and inapplicability of the tithing law in the Christian Church.Earlington and Evelyn researched and wrote this book in an attempt to discover the answers to many of the silently nagging and unanswered questions about the validity and application of the tithing principle in the Christian Church. He attended Caribbean Union College (now the University of the Southern Caribbean); she attended the College of the Virgin Islands (now the University of the Virgin Islands); they both enrolled and received their B.A. degrees from Oakwood College (now Oakwood University), Huntsville, Alabama; their M.A. degrees from Andrews University, in Berrien Springs, Michigan; and their Ph.D. degrees from Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan. They are also authors of: The Unconventionality of Church Leadership: It Works.
