This second edition of The Seven Periods of English Architecture was originally published in 1851. Chapters include; Introduction, Classification, Compartments, Saxon period, Norman period, Transitional period, Lancet period, Geometrical period, Curvilinear period and Rectilinear period. Illustrated with twenty steel engravings and woodcuts this is a fascinating novel of the period and still an interesting read today. Many of the earliest books, particularly those dating back to the 1900’s and before, are now extremely scarce and increasingly expensive.
