For centuries, every daughter of the Sans Monte bloodline has died before turning seventeen. Amanda Sans Monte is seventeen.Has the curse finally been broken, or has it merely been waiting for her?Amanda once believed curses were stories people told when ordinary explanations failed. Their investigation leads them beyond the town’s archives and deep into Witch’s Brew Forest, where the remains of an abandoned hearth conceal a journal written centuries earlier by Amanda’s ancestor, Guinevere Sans Monte.Guinevere’s pages tell the story of a gifted young healer falsely accused of crimes she did not commit, the darkness that destroyed her family, and the events that gave rise to the Sans Monte curse. Her account may hold the answers Amanda desperately needs. But as Amanda becomes immersed in the journal, the boundary between past and present begins to blur, and Guinevere’s warnings become frighteningly real. Now a killer is closing in, determined to seize the Leiothe, an ancient power at the heart of the Sans Monte legacy.
