Media and society are two things that need each other for survival. Society needs media to stay informed, educated and entertained through its programming and reportage. In fact, a democratic society needs media to keep its democracy alive. Media on the other hand needs society for existence, patronage and regulation through licensing to avoid violation of ethics and societal norms. In summary, the duo have interdependent relationship.
